| 1 | Я влюбилась впервые (2) в тысяча девятьсот четырнадцатом году, весной. | I fell in love for the first time in the year 1914 , in spring. |
| 2 | Не то чтоб очень влюбилась, но вижу Митя страстно ухаживает (3), | It is not that I was much in love, but I saw [see] that Dimitri courted (present) me passionately |
| 3 | цветы посылает, (4) конфеты, руки жмёт ужасно. | sent [sends] me flowers, sweets, squeezed [squeezes] my hands awfully. |
| 4 | Дай, думаю, выйду за Митю (5). Чего ждать? | Well [give] ! I think, I shall marry Dimitri. Why wait? |
| 5 | Не всякий день девушке делают предложение (6). | (It is) not every day (that) one makes a proposal to a girl. |
| 6 | Митя — офицер. Тут, кстати, первая мировая война. | Dimitri is an officer. (And) there, precisely, (comes) the first world war. |
